💡 Worked Examples

Example 1 — Convert 3/4 to decimal and percent

  1. Decimal: 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75
  2. Percent: 0.75 × 100 = 75%
  3. Answer: 3/4 = 0.75 = 75%

Example 2 — Convert 0.6 to fraction and percent

  1. Fraction: 0.6 = 6/10 = 3/5 (simplified using GCF)
  2. Percent: 0.6 × 100 = 60%
  3. Answer: 0.6 = 3/5 = 60%

🧠 Quick Reference

All four representations describe the same amount. Whenever one feels confusing, convert it to a percent first — "out of 100" is usually the easiest one to picture.
👪 For Parents & Tutors

BC Curriculum (Level 2 / Grade 7, Number): "Relationships between decimals, fractions, ratios, and percents" — explicitly a unifying Big Idea at this level ("Decimals, fractions, and percents represent parts and wholes of numbers").

Why this page exists separately: Level 1 taught fractions, ratios, and percents as three separate pages, each with its own visual model. This page's whole job is to explicitly connect them — the risk otherwise is that each stays a memorized, disconnected procedure rather than one flexible understanding.

Watch for: treating each conversion direction as a brand new rule to memorize from scratch, rather than always routing back through "what's this out of 100?" as the common anchor. If a conversion feels stuck, converting to a percent first (even as a scratch step) usually unsticks it.

Comes up again: Level 3 (Grade 8) numerical proportional reasoning and percents below 1% or above 100%, and Level 4 (Grade 9) rational number operations.
